We are excited to announce the 3rd Annual Oklahoma City Bus Trip for DRC members to the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon April 24-25, 2010.  If you are planning on running the full marathon, half marathon, or relay at OKC this April, we are thrilled to be able to offer you this easy and affordable means of transportation.

50+ DRCers will board a coach bus (commonly known by past participants as "The OKC Party Bus") on Saturday morning and head back to Dallas after the race on Sunday afternoon.  We only have a limited number of seats so if you're interested in taking the bus do not delay.  We expect the demand to be high this year.

Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon Overview - 10th Anniversary

·        A tribute to the victims, family members and survivors of the Oklahoma City Bombing April 19, 1995, and serves as a fundraiser for the Oklahoma City National Memorial.

·        168 banners line the course, one for each victim, which serve to remind us as we run that we have been given the gift of life and that it is too previous to waste.

·        Choose from half marathon, full marathon, 5K, and 5-person marathon relay!

Saturday

9:30 am – Meet at clubhouse / check-in

10:00 am – Bus leaves clubhouse

2:00 pm – Arrive in Oklahoma City

2:00-3:00 pm – Check-in to hotel / settle in

3:00-6:00 pm – Expo

6:00 pm – Choice of OKC pasta dinner or on your own

Sunday

4:30 am – Early start for 6+ hour marathoners

6:30 am – Official race start for everyone else

12:30 pm – Race is officially over

2:00 pm – On the road headed home

5:30 pm – Back home

Motorcoach Transportation to and from Oklahoma City

Gas prices keep going up, and who wants to drive 3 ½ hours home after running a half- or full marathon?  We have arranged for a 55-seater motorcoach to take us to Oklahoma City on Saturday and then return us home to Dallas on Sunday.  The motorcoach is equipped with luggage space and a restroom and have reclining seats and overhead storage area so we can travel in style!

Everyone must check-in at the DRC clubhouse (1130 Beachview Rd, Dallas, TX, 75218) at 9:30, and the bus will be departing from there at 10 am.  The trip is anticipated to take around 3 ½ hours.  The bus will transport everyone to the hotel where we have discounted rooms - Renaissance Oklahoma City Convention Center Hotel (10 North Broadway, Oklahoma City, OK 73102).  Everyone is responsible for their own transportation from this hotel if they are not staying overnight in that hotel.  This hotel is across the street from the host hotel Sheraton.

The bus will pick everyone up Sunday at 2 pm in front of the Renaissance for the drive home.  We expect to be back at 5:30 pm.

We highly recommend you find a friend or family member to drop you off and pick you up for this trip.  Due to liability issues, we have not arranged for any overnight parking because we can not risk being held liable for any theft or vandalism of your vehicle.

The cost of the bus ride is $40 per person.  You need to be a DRC member or guest to take the bus.  No children allowed.

If an emergency arises we will accept cancellations through Sunday, March 21.  After March 21 no refunds are allowed if your plans change.  There are no exceptions.  You will be responsible for finding someone to purchase your seat and will need to advise DRC of the name change.
